Steve Nicholson B.V.Sc, M.R.C.V.S

After qualifying from Bristol University in 1997, Steve enjoyed a varied introduction to the veterinary profession whilst working in a large animal practice in Devon for 2 years. During this time, due in part to the pressures of diary work, he developed an interest in small animal surgery and subsequently left to work in a first opinion/ orthopaedic referral practice.

After an unintentional period of rehabilitation following a cruciate ligament ruptured whilst skiing in Canada , he moved to Wolverhampton to pursue a small animal career and further his surgical work. For the last 5 years, he has continued to work at Cornerstone Veterinary Centre and managed to enjoy a 9 month sabbatical when he returned to cattle work in Cumbria where he is now the Clinical Director.

His interest in clinical audit has developed during the last 2 years as he has striven to introduce it into his working practice. It has already helped to shape management decisions, and he is convinced it will continue to improve and influence the future development of the practice.

In spite of the usual time pressures involved with the management of a veterinary practice, he enjoys running (usually far behind his canine training partner), squash and tae kwon do. His time for thought and relaxation is usually high up in the mountains of the Lake District, Alps or, preferably, Himalayas .
